In 1983, on the advice of his brother Omer Pierin, Michel Pierin went to Sodeg to choose land in Jarry. He chose the part near the mangroves to have water available during construction. According to the conditions of sale of the land, construction was to be completed within 4 years of the purchase. Sodéga has submitted its construction project. Half of the building was for rental and the other half for his electric motor repair shop.

At that time, Michel had a small business located at Chemin-Neuf in Pointe-à-Pitre, he was able to retain his customers. He worked for big companies like Bibrac, Sogéa, EDF, sugar cane factories. His nephew Richard, now manager of Somate SAV, as well as two other workers were employed there.

At 14, Michel Pierin left school in his final year of study, without any diploma. He knows he wants to be an electrician. His mother accompanies him to the Sainte-Marthe factory to find work. Michel is received by Paul Erimée, chief electrician. He hires him as an apprentice electrician during the harvest. This last finished, Michel is thanked. His mother is returning to the factory to be picked up. This time, the young man is assigned to the carpentry and joinery service.

He stayed there until he was 20 years old. After his military service, he wants to resume electricity. His brother takes him to Arsène Faraux, an electricity and rewinding company located on Nassau Street in Pointe-à-Pitre. He will stay there for 5 years. He has 4 workers under his direction. Then, Michel introduced himself to the Oulac company in Pointe-à-Pitre. He is hired. After two years of practice, he told the boss of his desire to set up his own business. Oulac encourages him. He takes his craftsman card and his former employer promises to send him clients when he has too much work. This is how Michel started as a business leader in 1969.

In an attempt to alleviate his financial burden, Michel Pierin sought to develop his business.

To do this, he traveled to the 1980s, to Spain, Germany and Italy to learn about and train in new technology, learn about market needs and learn about his profession.

Then, he went to a seminar in Sweden to follow a training on baby robotics. From that moment, he created a commercial channel. It has become the preferred seller of the major suppliers in these countries. At the end of the construction, he moved and settled in Jarry.

On April 27, 1987, he transformed his small craft business into a company. Somate was born. In 2004, after having encouraged his nephew to train in the field of industrial winding of rotating and static electrical equipment and in management, he handed over the management of the company to him.
